a little bit about me

I have to say I live the best of both worlds. I'm one of the few females I know who wears a pair of 4" heels to work everyday and nights out during the week and then turns around and slaps on a pair of bindings for some extreme riding on the weekends.

Playing in a boys world might seem unfamiliar to most girls, but this one grew up riding dirt bikes and skateboards and playing sports...sliding on brickdust in shorts for a little co-ed softball, no doubt ; ) Fast forward to 2010 and I've added a few more hobbies to the list...snowboarding, wakeboarding, following pro sports, playing tennis and running the table at a game of pool.

I've been snowboarding for 11 years and wakeboarding for the last 3. Since I'm a little behind on wakeboarding, I tend to push myself out on the lake just to keep up with the big boys. Each trip out I challenge myself to jump the wakes higher and do a little more switch-foot riding than the last trip out. Luckily for me, I've got a kick-ass boyfriend to watch and learn from...that is, when I'm not driving him.

Its quite the opposite out there on the snow-covered mountains. Once upon a time there was this brave little girl who rode the Expert runs on Mammoth Mountain and played in the parks...without a helmet. But not these days! These days I'm a little more cautious when I charge a jump or slide on a box. One area you can't slow me down is on a long open run. There's no better feeling than having a wide run all to yourself and hauling ass and the cool wind hitting your face on a warm spring day. Every now and then I think, MAN, this would really suck if my board got away from me, I mean REALLY suck. AND THEN...the thought is quickly replaced by the relishing thought of me being so far ahead of Sean (<-----oh, did I forget to mention, I'm EXTREMELY competitive?) HA!

My passion to play sports is just as imperative as my passion to be a spectator at sporting events. I'm an avid SD Chargers fan and have been since my dad took me to my first game back in 2004 and have rarely missed a home game since. This time of year, I'm sure my dad feels like he has another son. Whenever we get together, its all about football talk. People often tell me how shocking it is that I know so much about the game and the Chargers. Blame it on pops, is all I gotta say ;) I've also followed the LA Lakers since 1983...yes, way back when it was Magic's team. And yes, it was hard to watch the games following Shaq's departure, but I managed...haha. Now, Lakers are back on top and all is right in the world ;)

I won't bore all of you with all the details of the girlie-girl side of me. I will say, I'm big on clothes and shoe shopping when my hobbies aren't hogging up all my money and that my taste in clothing has matured. And by saying "mature" by no means does it mean boring...I was born with the style gene :) Some of my favorite designers/fashion brands are Calvin Klein, Ann Taylor, Michael Kors and BCBG Max Azria just to name a few. I'm a sucker for a sale, but I rarely get the bagain as my eye tends to be drawn toward the displays in the window or the "new arrivals" online. Although, when I do buy something on sale, that is my justification for getting it in every color! : /

I love, love, love me some shoes! A girl can never have too many, right? Wrong. The other day, I went searching for a pair of sandals in my closet and must have scanned the box-lined closet FIVE times looking for them. Finally, running out of time and totally frustrated, I had to go through each box, one by one...(I know you feel my anguish). I was chatting with a friend about this, who told me she had the same problem and how her resolution to this crisis (yes, if its a shoe problem, its considered a "crisis") was to take pictures of each shoe, print them out and paste them to each box...GENIUS, I tell you!! So I've made that my project a while ago...needless to say, I'm still not done : /

Well, that's what makes up this girlie-girl/tom-boy. I created this blog as a fun way to share my passion for my hobbies, my travels and to share a post or two about a cute new pair of shoes....Welcome and Enjoy!

Note: No credit cards are ever charged in the purchases of gear, tickets, fares, equipment, lodging, clothing or shoes. If you can't afford it, you don't need it!! <----is what my pops always told me.
