COSTA RICA - Day 4 cont: Mineral Water I CAN'T Drink???

After a good work out and body thrashing on the river, our next stop was to relax in the Baldi Hot Springs. Talk about AMAZING!! This Hot Springs Resort has 25 thermal, mineral water pools (temps ranging from 93 to 152 degrees!), 3 swim up bars, 2 restaurants and water slides! And let me tell you, we did it ALL!

First we hit the water slides!! The guy running the slides tried to get me to go down the faster slide, but after hearing Sean SCREAMING his head off as he jumped into the tunnel, I pointed to the other one and said, "mas despacio". I can't remember the last time I was at a water park, but man, this was FUN!

After the fun and games, we walked over to one of the swim up bars and ordered a couple of drinks. We were all enjoying our drinks and outta nowhere it started to pour, thunder and lightning!! We were protected under the bar's canopy, but Sean thought it would be cool if we went out into the rain. I went along with it because it was another opportunity to get a pic taken of Goal #41: Kiss in the Rain, then we swam around the entire bar with the rain pouring down on us!

By this time, we were all ready to sit down for some dinner so we dried off, us girls threw our dresses on over our wet bikinis and we went to one of the resort's restaurants for a buffet dinner. Not everyone liked the buffet, but I thought the chicken and rice were yummy and I would have gone back for seconds, but I was already stuffed.

After dinner, we went and sat in a couple more of the spring's hotter pools. I don't have too many pics of this night as my camera was ruined after I went for that swim in the river earlier that day and Sean's camera's battery was just about drained. This had to be the most relaxing part of the whole trip. It was truly relaxing lying there on a tile-decorated stone lounge chair, with a (man-made) waterfall pouring down on you on a beautiful night. I didn't want to leave, but we had to go pick up our water rafting cd all the way in the city.

If you visit Costa Rica, a MUST DO activity is visit one of the country's natural hot springs. Plan to make an entire day of it. Maybe plan it after a day where you've worked your muscles doing one of the other strenuous activities and let the thermal mineral waters work their soothing magic :)

Warning: you will fall in love with this place and you won't want to leave.
