COSTA RICA - Day 5 cont: Playa Herradura Fun!

After lunch and a few moments to rest up, we headed down to the beach for a little jetski fun. The going rate for the jetskis was $70/hr or $150 for 1/2 day where you follow a guide out to a private beach for snorkeling, some laying out, more jetskiing and they even have lobster traps for you to set up. If you catch a lobster, the restaurant next to the Marriott will cook it for you.

I didn't feel like riding a full hour by myself and I surely wasn't going to hop on the back of Sean's rental for even 5 minutes let alone an hour! You'd understand why I wouldn't ride as his passenger again after a previous jetski mishap [with him behind the helm] left me with a scar on my bum! Instead, we agreed to do the 1/2 day ride together, either the next day or day after that with me as the driver to and from the private beach.
So off they went, Sean, his brother, Mike and Thavery, to have a little fun romping in the ocean's waves. I stayed behind talking to the locals, me with my broken spanish and them with their broken english.

One good piece of information I got from the guy we rented the jetskis from was the party boats for rental there are pretty darn affordable. He pointed to a boat and said, "that boat right there is $1000 for the day and can hold 20-25 guests. Although it wasn't a very nice boat, the light bulb turned on and I thought...Hmm, destination wedding in Costa Rica?? I wonder who'd come? So for now, we're still in search of a destination.

After jetskis, we all jumped in the pool to cool off for a couple of hours, then headed to our rooms to get ready for dinner.

It was Mike and Thavery's last night in Costa Rica and we thought maybe they'd want a night to themselves so Sean and I stayed behind and had dinner at the hotel.

We were on our way to one of the hotel's restaurants and noticed an outdoor buffet spread. We had a quick peek and it looked delicious so we decided to try it. The food was AMAZING. Grilled chicken and salmon, rib eye kabobs, fried chicken served with a spicy sweet dipping sauce and a plethora of side dishes! For dessert, there was a chocolate fountain for dipping strawberries and an assortment of delectable cakes and eclairs and cheesecakes.

Needless to say, we walked away feeling 5 lbs heavier so an evening stroll never sound better!!
